Labour announce key commitments

Labour’s updated set of targets within the 5 general aims had a bit of energy about them, underwritten by that sense of government is here to achieve these things. And as Keir Starmer said at the outset of his speech , just what have the Tories got to point at for their 13 years? Labour is to bring them to account for their misuse of money during their years in power.

– – The announcements within the missions —
secure the highest sustained growth in the G7
— crack down on waste fraud and dodgy contracts to put money back in the public purse
— get Britain building again
— build the next generation of home towns
— build 1500000 homes
— unlock GBP24000 million of private investment to rebuild Britain
build an NHS fit for the future
— cut NHS waiting lists
— equip the NHS with new scanners and ai
— rescue NHS dentistry
make Britain’s streets safe
— target the most dangerous abusers and sex offenders
— a community policing guarantee to crackdown on town centre crime
break down the barriers to opportunity at every stage
— technical excellence colleges so young people get the skills they need
make Britain a clean energy superpower
— an energy independence act
— rewire Britain with clean energy powering homes and cutting bills

  1. Interesting. Will the council be held to account for the money wasted whilst in power? RHE for example? Did anyone ever say sorry?
Keeping our streets and target sex offenders. You may have missed the fact that thousands of young white girls were, and probably still are, sexually abused. Strange though, the authorities seem reluctant to take action. I wonder why?
Clean energy superpower. I read that it is going to cost billions to hook up sources of green energy to the grid, with buried transmission cables. Has Starmer had this promise costed? I think this can only be done by adding a levy to all forms of power we use. Be honest and realistic about how theLabour government will fund this work.

  2. The trouble with politicians of all parties is that they think in the short term. Initiatives have to be done so that the party in power gets the kudos. What good is a popular project that will come to fruition when your opponents are in power? Perhaps in a way this is what has happened to HS2. I don’t know what the answer is.Sent from my Galaxy
