Meadowlands festival issues

Broadly, The Meadows has welcomed the forthcoming music festival because they want to see The Embankment used.
There was concern when the festival sought to be twice as loud as Riverside Festival.
The festival is geared to young people.
Something like 18,000 have bought tickets.

The extensive panel fencing to stop outsiders watching the festival for free has been a bit of a shock.
Also that the festival has a long construction and removal period – works starting 8 days before and the park only being returned at the end of Wednesday after.

Specific issues include –
– the cones going up to encourage access for vehicles servicing the site, so far ahead of the festival;
– loss of access to the multi-use games area and health service keep fit equipment;
– noise from construction at the site;
– loss of parking to neighbouring residents;
– loss of access to the e-vehicle re-charging facilities;
– the lack of information about the festival – the web-site I think only recently published maps of the site;
– the lack of information sent directly to residents (letters now delivered on Monday 30th – there was a problem at the printers on Friday);
And other issues.

I have been rehearsing these concerns with one of the Festival promoters directly by e-mail, text and phone since Friday; and I have met the on-site manager (twice on Friday and Sunday).
All complaints will be passed on directly.

  1. I just think that the area is too small for a concert of this kind. Residents have received no information with regard to roads closed or any inconvenience that may be caused. Wollaton Park would have been more suitable. Why are the barriers in.place for such a length of time and will the inevitable mess be cleared up? I’m not a NIMBY but it feels wrong to be holding this event on the Embankment.
