Hoop challenge at Meadows Youth Centre

“You the manager?”  Challenged at the chip shop by a teenage girl, she added “Mr. Mellen?”  Seems we’d all just been to Meadows Youth Centre.  “Do you like it there?”   “Yeah . they’re nice to talk with …”  Naturally spoken appreciation.

Lots to do at the club.  Football, basketball (Cllr. Dave Mellen missed the hoop), table tennis, pool, crafts (an exhibit for Light Night), wi-fi, music studio and more.
Co-Councillor Nicola and I, joined Portfolio Holder David Mellen on his visit – part of a tour of all the youth centres –  and talked to attendees and staff.
Seeking ideas, youngsters suggested a couple of improvements.
Are wondering if more should be done to help Meadows kids take advantage of the schemes offered by national youth schemes.
Also had a chance to talk to a young Arkwright Walk resident, including the idea of goalposts for the grass patch.
