It is a day that we are all equal.
Irrespective of power, wealth, ability, capability, our votes all have the same value.
A very poweful idea.
Embraced in the expectation that working people would take the opportunity to support those candidates who will help the many rather than the few.
An idea that took root early in Nottingham in the 19th Century, cos beyond votes for those who owned lamd, the city gave votes to workers skilled to operate weaving machines. The rest saw the value, and hence the Chartist campaigns.
So, if you’re Nottingham, or just one of the many, use your vote.
And if you’re a Labour candidate tomorrow, take pride in Labour’s achievements.
And if you’re Sadiq Khan, congratulations on resisting a poisonous attack so gracefully.
