Key concerns expressed and points resolved at committee –
– the re-routing of NCT’s navy no 3 service to take in Ruddington risks leaving residents of the Harkness Road neighbourhood in Clifton isolated; (Councillors to review in January);
– more effective co-ordination and determination is need to tackle drug crime and associated litter in The Meadows; (Inspector to meet other council officers);
– lost capacity at youth centres due to cuts in public services; need young people back again; (meeting of officers to be convened and a report to the next committee);
– concern for residents currently leaving Laura Chambers Lodge; (report to next committee on how they have been served);
– listed building on Clifton Green still open to the elements; (local Cllr and residents group rep to chase and report);
– actions on tackling commuter and other non-resident car parking in The Meadows agreed; (consultation to begin; scheme for Bridgeway Centre to be designed with NCH);
– improvements to communal rooms at Strome Court, Kirkewhite Court and Brookfield Court had boosted uptake of flats; Willowbrook Court to be improved in next financial year and Mayfield Court to be improved in the year after that;
– NCH to introduce a better planned repairs system;
– social isolation and poverty expressed as the new concerns to be addressed in the new health and wellbeing strategy;
– NET to explain criteria for providing a tram stop for Silverdale;
A chock full meeting at which we heard presentations from NCT and the city council’s public transport team; from our public health and regeneration officers, and our neighbourhood development officers.
